This is what I’ve been waiting for. The Light Cycles update is now live on Disney Mobile’s TRON app for the iPhone/iPod touch. For those who are familiar with the movie, or even the game TRON 2.0, light cycle races are probably one of the more memorable/exciting portions of the movie/game. The version on the iPhone adopts a top-down view and features both single player and multiplayer gameplay. So now not only do you get the Tanks game, you’ll also get the new Light Cycles game, both in the TRON app, for free!

BURBANK, Calif. November 16, 2010 – For fans eagerly awaiting the release of Walt Disney Pictures film “TRON: Legacy” on December 17, Disney Mobile announced today a new update to its free TRON app for the iPhone and iPod touch. Packed with games, music, content and more, the latest update to the TRON app features a new TRON Light Cycles game and the ability to unlock Daft Punk’s new single, “Derezzed,” from the upcoming “TRON:Legacy” soundtrack.

An updated version of the classic Light Cycles game from the TRON Arcade, the new Light Cycles mobile game is free to download within the TRON app and challenges players to “derezz” opponents by using iconic Light Cycles in a series of action-packed missions. Players also have the chance to beat their opponents with upgradeable power-ups. In total, there are six exciting new levels, in addition to a multiplayer mode.

The new update to the TRON app also includes the latest information on the official, one and only TRON: Legacy Pop-Up Shop. Just in time for the holiday shopping season, this six week-long retail destination for men and women of all ages will offer one-of-a-kind, limited-edition TRON merchandise at the cafe, retail concept shop, and art exhibition space Royal/T in Culver City, Calif. –November 19 through December 23, 2010.

The TRON app launched in July of 2010 and features a free all-new version of the classic Tanks game from the TRON Arcade, movie and video game trailers and pre-sale order information for the “TRON:Evolution” video game from Disney Interactive Studios. The app will continue to update leading up to the premiere of the “TRON: Legacy” film in December offering exclusive content, games and more.
