So on a daily basis I get a bunch of emails with upcoming game news, review requests and trailers. I don’t really read all of them, and there was one week where almost every new game announcement was a rogue-lite of some sort. But one trailer did catch my eye today.
Dubbed Lord of the Sands, the trailer starts like a wizard not unlike Saruman spouting some gibberish over a Palantir-like object about a world covered in sand and people suffering from an evil… only to cut to some gameplay footage of the game’s protagonist sand-surfing, yes surfing on sand. WTF indeed.
The trailer is for Focus Entertainment and its studio Deck13 Interactive’s imminent launch of Atlas Fallen, the superpowered action RPG where you’ll battle legendary creatures in an epic, sand-covered fantasy world, coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on August 10th.
In Atlas Fallen, you seize the divine power of a mysterious Gauntlet and wield heroic abilities to defeat a tyrannic, almighty god. Tame the sands into a shapeshifting weapon and watch it grow larger as you build Momentum to unleash the full, irrepressible power of the Gauntlet.
Propel yourself in the air and glide across the dunes thanks to your sand-infused powers, experiencing incredible speed, verticality and mobility as you explore the vast and timeless land of Atlas and fight its terrifying beasts. Atlas Fallen delivers a fascinating world filled with mysteries and a variety of enemies to defeat through breathtaking action, supported by deep progression and customization systems.
Pre-orders are open on all platforms and grant a special DLC bonus: the “Ruin Rising Pack,” featuring exclusive cosmetic items and combat abilities.
