Get ready to return to the haunting world of Cvstodia, Penitent Ones! The Game Kitchen and Team17 Digital have just announced a massive expansion for Blasphemous II, arriving October 31st across all platforms (Steam, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Epic and GoG)
The centerpiece is the paid Mea Culpa DLC ($11.99), which brings back the iconic sword from the first game. This expansion adds:
- Two massive new zones to explore
- Two challenging new bosses
- Four new quests centered around the Mea Culpa
- An alternate ending for The Penitent One
- A new weapon and ability
- New NPCs, prayers, rosary beads and more
But that’s not all – a FREE “True Torment Update” is also launching alongside the DLC. This update expands existing areas, adds new connecting zones, and introduces the highly requested New Game+ mode. Players can look forward to new enemies, abilities, and quality of life improvements as well.
The True Torment update also adds an intriguing new challenge called “The Labyrinth of Tides.” Between this and the adjustable difficulty options in NG+, it looks like there will be plenty to test even the most hardened Blasphemous veterans.
As a long-time fan of Metroidvania-style games, I’m excited to see The Game Kitchen supporting Blasphemous II with such substantial post-launch content. The Mea Culpa was an iconic part of the first game, so its return should add some satisfying narrative closure.
Will you be diving back into Cvstodia this Halloween? Let me know in the comments! And stay tuned for more coverage as we get closer to the October 31st release date.
