Fans of award-winning space sandbox adventure Astroneer have plenty to look forward to this year. First up, the developers, Seattle-based System Era Softworks, have just announced that the brand-new “Awakening” update is now available for the game, which has seen its player base surpass the 11 million mark.
“Awakening” is the culmination of Astroneer’s narrative initiative. In this story-rich update, players are given an urgent mission by a mysterious new character that will take them to the heart of the Sylva System itself. The 25th free content update is available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
Even with this update, support for Astroneer will continue going forward. While “Awakening” concludes the story so far, System Era Softworks has promised that new gameplay-driven content is currently planned for release later this year.
Players who want to experience even more exciting tales inspired by the game’s imaginative universe can pre-order Astroneer: Countdown, an upcoming graphic novel distributed by Titan Comics, coming in March 2023.
