The folks behind Record of Lodoss War – Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, Team Ladybug, have just released a brand-new side-scrolling shmup on Steam, titled DRAINUS. The game features the titular “Drainus”, an aircraft that can absorb any kind of energy. This makes it possible to absorb enemy attacks and fire it back at them, making it a game that even casual players who are not well-versed at shooting games can enjoy.
The game has an “Easy” mode, a “Normal” mode, and a “Hard” mode that will satisfy even hardcore fans out there. Beating the game will unlock two new game modes, allowing for a different experience than the first playthrough!
Team Ladybug has collaborated with PEPOSOFT to come up with DRAINUS’ soundtrack, and PEPOSOFT has created music for fan-favorites such as Touhou Luna Nights and Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth-, as well as the sound effects for NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, which has sold over 400,000 copies.
The beautiful key art featuring the main characters and DRAINUS was created by Zounose, who has also done illustrations for Magic the Gathering and Pokémon Card Game. Zounose is also active in many Touhou Project works.
