Halo: Combat Evolved was the game that put the original Xbox on the map back in 2001. I played the heck out of the game when the PC version came out in 2003 and the gameplay was nothing short of amazing. The series became an Xbox exclusive and served as motivation for me to eventually get an Xbox even though the Master Chief Collection brought back the series to the PC.
The latest iteration in the series would be Halo Infinite and according to the Xbox app on my PC, is scheduled to be unlocked in about a day. The campaign mode is something that I’m looking forward to, but some spoiler-lite reviews have indicate that the story is a bit of a cliffhanger and is generally heading towards DLC territory. I’m fine with that but I was hoping for some closure for Master Chief.
The multiplayer portion of Halo Infinite has been out since November and brings about the one thing that I’ve been wishing for…. BOTS!! Yup, bots are available for players to add into multiplayer games for a total of eight per game. Being an introvert who doesn’t really like interacting with strangers (especially online) I took part in a free-for-all with bots on the Xbox Series S yesterday and while aiming with the Xbox Core Wireless controller was a bit finicky, that session was awesome.
I decided to install the game on the PC earlier this evening, and using the keyboard (Logitech G610) + mouse (Logitech G Pro) combination did improve my rate in dispatching the bots. The game looks great on either platform. There are tons of locked visual customization options for your multiplayer character, but I guess those will either need to be purchased, or unlocked via the campaign mode which should be available by tomorrow.
Thanks to Game Pass Ultimate, the question now would be, should I be playing Halo Infinite on the PC or on the Xbox Series S? 🙂
