Retro gaming fans had plenty to rejoice over the past few years, with Nintendo releasing modernized versions of their game consoles with the Nintendo NES and SNES Classic Mini Editions. For the more discerning gamer (or completists), there would be the Famicom Classic and Super Famicom Classic.
The Classic Famicom featured games such as River City Ransom and Yie Ar Kung Fu which are not available on the NES Classic, whereas the Classic Super Famicom had Super Street Fighter II and Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. Both of these Japanese consoles are still available on Play-Asia, which would make them somewhat of an interesting Christmas gift for what can be considered a dour year.
While the abovementioned consoles have been out in the market for some time, there’s one new upcoming retro-tinged hardware launch that Nintendo has up its sleeves. Check out the limited edition Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros which is slated to be released this November.
Commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario series, the game is a compilation of classic NES titles Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels and a classic G&W game, Ball. Like any modern electronic device, it no longer relies on removable batteries, and instead charges using USB-C. It’s available for pre-order on Play-Asia, check it out over here.
Speaking of retro games for that matter, Metal Slug fans are in for a treat, as Play-Asia has two Metal Slug model kits for the Sarubia and the SV-001 II Metal Slug. Both of which are being released at the end of October 2020; click on the links above to check them out.
