Remember how Sonic the Hedgehog used to captivate the living room with his speed? He was so much faster than that portly plumber from Nintendo and the blue blur turned out to be a bonafide hit. The indie developer duo Spotcos aims to bring this very real need for speed back to life with Speedy Pups for Android and iOS.
The game tells the story of an adorable pack of dogs whose pups were stolen by evil Cat Robots—mechanical menaces who aren’t cute and cuddly like real cats; in fact, the sole focus of the Cat Robots’ silicon-based brains is to make the pack of pups very, very sad – which means that you are needed to teach those nasty catniks a lesson they won’t soon forget!
Speedy Pups comes with the vertical loops and insane jumps that gamers came to love in Sonic, and there are 3 whimsical worlds, with 6 different zones replete with day-and-night cycles. The game comes with a Challenge Mode as well for the truly hardcore gamer set. As for the cast, Speedy Pup includes 7 pups with OG the Mutt and his six friends, each with their own extraordinary powers.
The game is free to download and play. Players can use gold coins earned in-game or purchased at the store to acquire the 6 other pups and special items such as a medieval helmet (shield), a rocket-powered jetpack, and even a magnet that conveniently attracts all nearby gold coins. The game is balanced so that skilled players don’t ever have to spend real money in order to progress or acquire special items.
Speedy Pup is due out on the App Store and Google Play store next week! So be sure to stay tuned to Nineoverten.com for our review then.
