As a video games reviewer, I had my fair share of minimalist games, with some of the more outstanding ones being the bit Generations titles for the GBA and also Flower for the PS3. But if you ask me whether I’ve seen a Wild West-themed minimalist title on the iPhone, or be it any other platform, I would have to answer, no, not until today when the folks at Cowboy Games told us about their upcoming title Ready Steady Play.
Essentially a compilation of three mini-games, Ready Steady Play is set to be released onto the iTunes App Store for iOS devices on the 19th of June. It features Cowboy Games’ miniature cowboy mascot and his trusty hobby horse in Shooting Gallery, Hobby Hurdles and Coin Shooter, with more games to be added episodically (while they had me at minimalist wild west-theme, I like them even more now considering there are gonna be updates!).
Easy to learn and hard to master, Ready Steady Play expands on the beautifully minimal aesthetic and gameplay of its popular predecessor Ready Steady Bang, which attracted over 1,500,000 downloads alone. The folks at Cowboy Games will be celebrating the launch with a night of brilliant gameplay, locally brewed beer and cowboy-approved nibbles on 26 June 2014 at the Old Shoreditch Station, London.
