Do you own a smart watch? I consider my Garmin FR10 to be a smart watch, considering that it does a bang up job calculating the distance, speed and time during my runs and it even syncs with an online service (Garmin Connect) when it is connected to my Mac. Smart as it is, would I actually play a game with it? I don’t think so since I don’t really fancy looking at my wrist for an extended period of time.
But perhaps one man’s poison is another man’s gateway to amusement/entertainment as AMA, one of the few European game developers who are developing on cutting edge tech such as Google Glass, Galaxy Gear, Sony Smartwatch, Leap Motion and other connected devices, has come up with not one, not two, but three games for Samsung’s Galaxy Gear, an Android-based smartwatch designed to be paired with several Samsung Android smartphones/tablets.
The games are Puzzle 2 HD, Abalone and Escape. With those first games, AMA is confirming its goal to bring its gaming experience to connected objects. “We believe wearables and, particularly, smart watches such as the Galaxy Gear are the next big trend for consumers. Developing and publishing content on these devices attests to our lasting commitment to innovation.” says Jean-François Denis, AMA’s VP Sales.
Fans will benefit from synchronized progress with their mobile devices on Puzzle 2 HD and Abalone, soon on Escape. Players can play a session on the watch and continue from where they left off on their Samsung smartphone. In Puzzle 2 HD, players move the Master Blox along the path to the exit tile without getting sidelined by the teleporters, traps and obstacles, throughout 100 levels.
With 6 million units sold over the world, Abalone takes only a minute to learn but a lifetime to master. Players will have to think, weigh their options and play to push their opponent off the board. In Escape, Norm is stuck and he needs the player’s help to help move him up, down, left and right, without retracing his steps and eliminate each stone in the levels.
To download the games, you need to access the Samsung Store from your compatible Samsung phone which should be equipped with the Gear manager application.
