Have you ever heard of 8-Bit Funding? I have not until I read an e-mail that was sent to me earlier today (more on that e-mail later). Something like Kickstarter, 8-Bit Funding specializes in crowdfunding for the indie games industry. According to their website, “8-Bit Funding has a single goal, to help anybody who has anything to do with the gaming industry fund their projects through completion. Whether it’s a video game, board game, card game, or even gaming inspired projects like a gaming focused bar or cafe”.
OK, back to the e-mail I received earlier today. Geremy Walker, a veteran advertising man (with clients such as Pepsi, Klondike, Unilever and 4Kids) and lifetime gamer has set out to come out with a brand new game titled Townseed. Built using XNA to be released on the PC, Townseed has already received USD 5,100 in pre-order funding with the target goal being USD 8,000.
In Townseed, players find themselves as the sole survivor of a shipwreck. You are lost on an island with only one hope – survival. After working on a small hut and continuing to build, you may attract the attention of other survivors who wish to join with you for protection and prosperity. Eventually this grows your small hut into a growing community where you become the leader of a young nation.
For more information on how to fund the game and how Geremy plans to use the funds, check out the 8-Bit Funding page for Townseed right over here: https://8bitfunding.com/project_details.php?p_id=313#
