Just earlier today I put up a post on an augmented reality Pokemon-type game called Mobbles (check out the article here), when in came a news tip on another augmented reality game which asks the question: “Fancy playing Pac-Man outside, with your feet, bike or car instead?“
Yup, you read that right. If there’s anything as pushing the boundaries of augmented reality it would Peter Druska’s latest iOS title Spherie. The game takes players to the streets of their particular neighbourhood by turning the maps into levels where yellow spheres are placed. Players will have to make their way to the location on the map to “get” the spheres, kinda like how Pac-Man munches on the yellow globes.
According to the developer, a cherry will appear occasionally, another throwback to the game’s distant cousin. One question though, what happens if the sphere appear on a road in a private estate, that would definitely pose a challenge to all except the most determined player (or if the player happens to be a resident of said private estate). LOL.
The game is available for free on the iTunes App Store, so why not you grab it and tell me how you went about playing the game. For some of us, it might even be an invaluable form of exercise: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/spherie/id512947160?mt=8
