Girlfriend’s A Bomb has turn out to be one interesting iPhone game. It features similar gameplay to that of Halfbrick’s Jetpack Joyride but at the same time the art style is like what you get when you colour your notebook sketches with colour pencils, it’s actually pretty cool to look at.

The gameplay is simple enough, players tap on the screen to cause Adam Bomb (yup, he IS an explosive) to hover (and release the finger to cause him to drop). All this is necessary to avoid obstacles in the form of rockets and bullets and lasers, etc, etc as he completes milestones to get closer to his kidnapped bomb of a girlfriend (classic case of Mario here).

The game comes with Game Center and it’s pretty cool to see how far the distance you’ve traveled and compared with players from rest of the world. Guess who is sitting on the top of the list? Yup, it’s yours truly :). Anyways, there’s one really interesting thing to note about Girlfriend’s A Bomb.

While the game is available for free, players are given a set amount of lives from the onset. Each session, players can consume up to three lives (each obstacle hit deducts one life) and once the total number of lives (the amount is quite decent, enough for quite a number of playthroughs) is exhausted, you’ll need to purchase more lives via in-app purchases! That’s actually pretty smart and innovative.

Nine Over Ten 9/10 rates Girlfriend’s A Bomb at a 4 out of 5. Highly Recommended. Check out the game over at the iTunes App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/girlfriends-a-bomb/id513238065?mt=8
