Crawl Space Games‘ latest offering for the iPhone, Globs, features a primary gameplay mechanic that wouldn’t be out of sync with the Borg from Star Trek. The objective of this game is to assimilate all the multi-coloured blobs on the game board into a single colour, and this alone makes the game unique and a very fun experience.
Starting from the top left corner of the board, players have to pick one of 6 different colours to begin assimilating surrounding “globs”. Strategic minded players will try to assimilate a large chunk of globs at the final move just so they can get a large bonus to their scores. Yup, Glob is not only a casual puzzle game, but it can be a competitive one as well.
There are two game modes available, Classic and Time. In Classic, players are scored by the number of moves taken to assimilate the entire board, whereas in Timed mode, players must do so before the clock runs out. As I’ve mentioned earlier, Globs can be competitive and the proof is pretty much there when the game features both Open Feint and Game Center for online leaderboards.
Nine Over Ten 9/10 rates Globs at a 4.5 out of 5. Excellent stuff. The game is available on the iTunes App Store for just USD 0.99, do check it out: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/globs/id436859277?mt=8. The game is available on the Android platform as well.
