I’ve seen videos of DJs using iPhones (and GrooveMaker apps) instead of turntables to play to crowds, but have you seen an orchestra, well a bunch of people (an ensemble), play a piece using iPads in place of traditional music instruments such as the violin, cello and clarinet?
Well check out the following video; the piece is horrible (I rather have them play something familiar instead of Sweet Dream by I. Plavunov….yeah I know…who that?) but serves as a pretty cool proof of concept. I don’t suppose however that they can “touch-play” which explains why they are glued to the iPad screens when they are playing, and this pretty much explains the lack of a conductor. Long way to go? Maybe 🙂
