While most of the apps that I’m reviewing or using have yet to be updated to take advantage of iOS4’s multi-tasking abilities but if there’s one feature I’m putting to good use now is Folders! Yup, Folders are a live saver and it got me down from 8 pages full of apps to 3. Sure there’s a matter of sorting them (I’m currently going by Apps, Review Games, Paid Games, Free Games and some miscellaneous Folders), but it’s worth the time.
I get a lot of review requests for games but at the moment I’m only storing games that are still in the review pipeline on my iPhone (the rest are on my laptop, in cold storage). Even so, two folders are barely enough and if I were to get more games soon, I will need another tab. Thanks to people like AppJmp on Twitter, I also have a burgeoning free games collection, which as you can see occupies 3 tabs!
I’ve been buying plenty of games lately (I don’t jailbreak, it’s not cool, and even if I needed to, like my previous 2G, it was to unlock the phone), and thanks again to AppJmp and stuff like EA’s fire sale, the World Cup (footie games were given discounts) and Gameloft’s occasional crazy cuts, I’ve 2 tabs filled up. It was a nightmare previously when it came to managing the sheer number of apps alone and Folders, while better late than never, has proven to be a lifesaver.
On another note, don’t you think my Pac-Man wallpaper rocks?
