The Burj Dubai (now known as the Burj Khalifa) is pretty special to me, considering that in both my visits to Dubai, I always got someone to drive me past the monumental structure under construction just to see how fast it progressed on a day to day basis. It was very fascinating as it practically grew everyday!
Well, it’s now completed (on the outside) with a mind numbing height of 828 meters. Reading the BBC article on the launch, I can’t help but notice a typo error on one of the buildings that formerly held the title “World’s Tallest”, the Petronas Twin Towers.
The name was instead misspelled as Patronas Twin Towers, which was kind of ironic as it reminded me about the term “political patronage” and how it is pretty much a fact in Malaysia. and usually with money from, ahem, Petronas. Nothing better than a couple of chuckles in the morning eh.
