If I ever had the chance to interview the developers of Fallout 3, my main question would be was the game inspired by the classic manga Hokuto No Ken (a.k.a Fist of the North Star)?
The similarities are pretty striking:
Hokuto No Ken | Fallout 3 |
Lone wanderer as main character | Lone wanderer as main character |
Wanders on a desolate wasteland post nuclear fallout with pockets of civilization | Wanders on a desolate wasteland post nuclear fallout with pockets of civilization |
Main storyline involves looking for a loved one | Main quest involves looking for a loved one |
Main character is empathetic. Accepts quests from strangers | Player character is largely empathetic (depending on who is playing). Accepts quests from strangers |
Can look indifferent when terminating foes | Expressionless both in and outside of VATS mode |
Main character looks like a raider in Fallout 3 | Player character can look like the main character from Hokuto No Ken by dressing up like a raider |
Fought a lot of raiders | Fought a lot of raiders |
Fought a lot of weird humans mutated by radiation | Fought a lot of weird humans mutated by radiation |
Martial Arts skills can cause the following: paralyze an opponent and/or cause opponents to explode | Can have Bloody Mess, Iron Fist and Paralyzing Palm perks |
hell yes. Both are truly similar actually. Just that, Hokuto No Ken, the fist is the answer. :p
Yeah man. Hokuto FTW!
