With all the talk about Nintendo’s anti-piracy efforts, including its anti-piracy website and filling lawsuits (in Japan) against the importers of a pioneer Slot-1 flashcart (which enables running of pirated ROMS on the DS), the big N is still not doing enough.
A quick check on ebay.co.uk yielded posts such as:
- new pink nintendo lite console +over 30 free ds games
- NEW METALLIC ROSE PINK NINTENDO DS LITE + 20 GAMES UK
- NDS Nintendo DS Lite Console Cobalt Black Blue + Gifts
- NDS Lite + 20 Games Christmas Bundle
Most of these bundles are sold around the range of GBP 130 to GBP 150. The bundle usually come with games, and while some don’t state the nature of the games (or the titles in fact), some are more straightfoward, with lines such as these:
- 9 GBA Games (Cartridge only without Box and Manual)
- The games are supplied on the bundle and without manual and case. All NDS Lite Games, not GBA games, All Games are English. The games are supplied on the bundle and without manual and case.
- NO BOXES OR INSTRUCTION MANUALS. GAMES WIL L BE SUPPLIED IN THE PROTECTIVE CASES
Already been a victim of not one, but 2 pirated Nintendo DS games no thanks to purchasing from eBay, I’ve got a gut feeling that the games included in these bundles are cheap pirated versions. Even the price of the bundle doesn’t add up, it’s too low taking into account the prices of original titles.
Parents, if you are planning to get these bundles for Christmas for your kids, beware that the you are not getting your money’s worth, especially with the pirated games. Be prepared to face complaints/whining as these cheap knock-off games have a reputation of failing and any notion of support/warranty claims should be thrown out of the window.

I have seen these in Australia as well, mostly it seems the games are something like 20 GBA games on one cart.
Surely people must realise something is not quite right when buying the Ds the games, all 20 of them, are almost free!
