A slightly thick paper envelope came in today from the good folks of Canonical, all the way from the Netherlands. But two hours have passed since I opened the package and I still can’t get Ubuntu 8.04 to work with Virtual PC 2007.
I keep getting this maddening “An unrecoverable processor error” despite following an online tip to run the Operating System (instead of installing it the first time around) and selecting the Safe Graphics option.
Looks like I got things finally up and running. According to this site (https://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/opensource/?p=208), I’m supposed to edit a command line before doing anything.
Here’s one tip that I found out on my own: If you are trying to install Ubuntu on Virtual PC 2007 and you do not see the Safe Graphics Mode available when hitting the F4 key, try switching to full screen mode and hit the F4 key again. It has this cute little Houdini act going on (read: urgh…)
And yeah..maybe I should use VMWare instead.
Yes, you should use VMWare instead.
Hmm hmm…maybe I should indeed..
